I could see that she did not expect me to be here. Her eyes were staring fiercely at me, as if I had taken away her everything and was her biggest enemy. I tried to look away, running away from her sight.
However, it did not work. She walked slowly towards me. As she was approaching, I could feel that my hands were trembling. She was then only half kilometer away from me. She held me on my left arm and pulled me towards her, then she said,"How dare you take part in this competition?Who do you think you are?"
I looked into her eyes quietly. There was something inside those two beautiful eyes. I saw fire burning vigorously, I knew her spirit and will to win was strong. But, I saw fear as well. She was afraid of me, I always knew that.
Therefore, I pushed away her hand softly, smiled at her, and then walked away, like nothing had happened.
She was Felicia, the richest family's daughter in our town. Like me, she was fond of music. However, we never got along for I was only a girl who got the chance to learn piano because of the teacher's sympathic to me.
Felicia thought she was a good pianist, but I was the one who always got praises. She hated me very much because of this. Therefore, when she knew that the payment for this "International Royal Piano Music Competition" was RM 300, she was very happy because I could not afford to pay that much. However, she did not know that the teacher had helped me to settle the payment.
The competition started at 8 o'clock sharp. Felicia was the tenth contestant while I was the last contestant for our category. When it was her turn, she walked out to the stage with a broad smile on her face confidently and gracefully. She was dressed in white, like an angel, and so did her song. It was one of the hardest songs composed by the famous pianist, Beethoven.
The piece was soft and peaceful. Everyone, including the judges of course, was indulged into it. Me, myself as well. It was absolutely a good piece, and Felicia played it well. She won the loud applause from all the audience, the judges and the other contestants.
My confidence began to fade away. She was too perfect to be surpassed. It was impossible! I was scared, trembling again. However, the brilliant thought came into my mind suddenly. I told myself I was here only to gain experience, there was no need to scare. I just had to do my best. The prizes worth nothing to me!
When my name was announced as the last contestant, I walked with the very best 'calm-state' of mine, trying to hide my fear. The stage was big, the grand piano was put in the middle of it. The piano was huge too, like the sizes of two Gen-2 cars.
I sat on the chair, put my hands on the keyboard, and began my song. The melody was calm, it flew in my hand, my mind and my heart.
The night was beautiful, I played the piece with all my souls.
